On board a starship there was a buffet. Even though it was only one of many, it was a large buffet. Partly because of the wide selection, but mostly because the aisles needed to be wide enough to accommodate the float chairs that carried large, rather obese people around as well as robots that floated or rolled beside them collecting the food on trays.
Parts of the buffet were gleaming white and new, and other parts ... weren't. They were somewhat older and used. Not quite old enough to be replaced yet, b
